Parents of Lost Children
Mission
The operation of OVK is based on three objectives:
-
Provide help, guidance and support to families who have lost a child in a traffic accident;
-
Improving the (professional) reception and guidance of relatives of traffic victims;
-
Sensitization and awareness on road safety.
Sensitization and awareness
of the general public
OVK takes actions and participates in actions to make all road users aware of their own responsibility in traffic.
OVK conducts campaigns for more road safety.
OVK and me
When disaster struck and our world was turned upside down, it was difficult, very difficult. Friends and family were there for us. Day and night they guided us through this dark period. Many people don't always know how to handle this properly and that goes without saying. Nobody expects such a sudden change, such a terrible accident. No one is prepared for that.
On our long road, our search for how life should continue, we came into contact with OVK (Parents of Children passed away in car accidents) . A group of fellow parents who are there for each other. Every family member has their own story, their own obstacles, but everyone lost a child, too young, in traffic.

This non-profit organization is committed to alleviating the pain as much as possible. For example, they organize discussion evenings and placed a SAVE sign at the accident site. Whenever I see a SAVE sign (there are more than you think) I think of OVK and what they have meant to us.
I would like to call on every reader to sponsor me per km I run to support OVK.

Fellowship Movement
OVK offers help and support to families of (young) fatal traffic victims. In doing so, the organization does not take the place of professional care providers, but works in a complementary way: OVK provides unique expertise based on mutual aid and solidarity between those affected.
This is the heart, the engine of operation.
Sensitization and awareness-raising of governments and professionals
Reception and guidance of families
Based on the experience and expertise built up in the fellow sufferers' movement, OVK works to ensure that every family member of a (young) traffic victim can count on humane and efficient help, immediately after the accident and in the days, months and years after the accident.
That is why OVK is sensitizing professional services that come into contact with families of traffic victims.
road safety
OVK has a unique, credible voice in the road safety debate.
OVK supports and realizes actions that place road safety on the social agenda. Where possible , OVK works together with other organizations for this .
We always do this based on OVK's individuality and specific expertise.
Non Bob campaign
For 25 years responsible drivers have been given the honorary title Bob.
For 25 years they have been rewarded with the well-known Bob key ring at alcohol checks.
Belgians have been drinking and driving for 25 years. Parents of Children passed away in car accidents and Vias think it's time for irresponsible drivers to get a key ring. One that will stick, bearing the name of one of the many children killed by drunk drivers. Hopefully you won't receive one of these during an alcohol check soon.
